The Illinois State Board of Education has recognized Unity Point School as a Spotlight School—a high poverty school where high academic performance is closing the "achievement gap." Criteria for selecting these schools are rigorous. All schools must be making Adequate Yearly Progress. At least half the students are from low-income families and at least 60% (62.5% in 2008) must be passing the state achievement tests in both reading and in mathematics. In 2009, 90% of Unity Point students met or exceeded these standards. Congratulations faculty and students on this accomplishment! A current physical must be on file before you may tryout for any sport activity, this includes cheerleading. Basketball tryouts will be at the end of September and if we do not have a current physical on file, you will not be allowed to tryout.
