Illinois 5Essentials Survey
Beginning February 1, teachers, parents and students across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey: Organizing Schools for Improvement. This survey was designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school. Parents of Unity Point students are invited to take the survey.
EMERGENCY EARLY DISMISSAL - Be sure to return your emergency early dismissal form. If we do not receive the form back indicating where your child(ren) is to go, we will conclude that you want your child(ren) to ride home as they normally are scheduled.
Keeping you informed is a top priority at Unity Point School. That’s why we have adopted the ALERTNOW Notification Service which will allow us to send a telephone or e-mail message to you providing important information about school events or emergencies. We anticipate using ALERTNOW to notify you of school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather, as well as remind you about absences, various events, including report card distribution, open house, field trips, and more. In the event of an emergency at school, you can have peace of mind knowing that you will be informed immediately by phone. The successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information for each student, so please make certain that we have your most current phone numbers and email address. If this information changes during the year, please let us know immediately.
PLEASE do not call school, this simply ties-up telehone lines that are needed to get info out. Also do not call school employees at home. Instead listen to the radio, TV or log on to our website for school closing information. In the event you do call school, a taped message will play indicating if there is school and other info you may need to know. If you do not see or hear Unity Point mentioned, then you may assume there will be school. School closing info can be found on the following stations:
KFVS TV - Channel 12 WSIL TV - Channel 3 WPSD TV - Channel 6
RADIO - WCIL, WOOZ, WINI, WSIU, WDDD, WTAO, K103
LUNCH/BREAKFAST PURCHASE - A debit based system for purchases of lunch and/or breakfast is available. Parents can send any amount of money and each lunch/breakfast will be subtracted from the amount in escrow. Students will carry a student card that keeps track of lunches and breakfasts eaten and money remaining in the student account. Parents will be notified when the account is low on funds and no student will be allowed to charge more than five dollars ($5.00) to the account.
Money for lunch and breakfast may be dropped off in the mornings before classes begin at the office ticket window. Prices are as follows:

- The student must not have been absent more than 10% of the current accumulated school days.
- The form must be submitted to each of the student’s academic teachers. Assignments will be given to the student for the days the student will be absent.
- The form must be signed by teachers and the parent/guardian and returned to the office for approval by the principal.
